The appointed day of destruction arrives, but instead of being wiped out, the Jews gain victory over their enemies. God empowers them to defend themselves, and fear of the Jews spreads throughout the empire. Mordecai’s authority grows, and the Jews establish the festival of Purim to commemorate God’s great deliverance.
The chapter emphasizes remembrance—God’s people must never forget the moments when the Lord turns sorrow into joy and mourning into celebration.
Christ-Foreshadowing: The deliverance celebrated at Purim foreshadows Christ’s greater deliverance, where He triumphs over sin and death, turning despair into eternal joy.
