Although Haman is gone, his genocidal decree remains in effect. Esther pleads again with the king for her people’s lives. The king grants Mordecai authority to write a counter-decree, allowing the Jews to defend themselves on the appointed day. Mordecai is elevated to Haman’s former position, and the Jews rejoice as hope and favor spread throughout the empire. This chapter shows how God not only removes threats but establishes His people in places of influence. What seemed irreversible becomes an opportunity for redemption.
Christ-Foreshadowing: The new decree granting deliverance points to Christ, whose gospel nullifies the decree of death and brings life and hope to all who believe.
