After Vashti’s removal, the search begins for a new queen. Beautiful young women from across the empire are taken into the royal harem, including a Jewish orphan named Hadassah—better known as Esther. Raised by her cousin Mordecai, she enters the palace and finds favor with the officials. For a full year she undergoes preparations before being brought to the king. When her moment comes, Esther wins the king’s favor, and he sets the royal crown upon her head. Meanwhile, Mordecai discovers a plot by two palace guards to assassinate the king. He reports the information through Esther, saving the king’s life. This act is recorded in the official chronicles, which will later become pivotal. God’s fingerprints are everywhere—guiding Esther into her position and preserving Mordecai’s loyalty as part of a larger plan.
Christ-Foreshadowing: Esther’s hidden identity and unexpected rise foreshadow Christ, who also came in humility, entering the world quietly yet positioned by God to bring deliverance.
