The Teacher wrestles with obedience to authority and the frustration of delayed justice. Wickedness may appear to go unpunished, but God’s judgment is certain even if its timing remains hidden.
Human understanding cannot fully explain God’s governance, calling for trust rather than control.
Jesus is revealed as the righteous Judge who will bring justice fully and perfectly in God’s appointed time.
Ecclesiastes 8 — “Trust Beyond What We See”
Song Lyrics
Verse 1
Who is like the wise who understands?
Who can read the times, the law, the land?
Wisdom lights the face with gentle grace,
Softens strength, reshapes the pace.
Keep the oath you swore before the King,
Do not rush from duty, do your thing.
His command will surely have its day,
No one stops what power sets in play.
Chorus
There’s a time and way for all that’s done,
Even when the road feels overrun.
We don’t see the end from where we stand,
So we trust the Lord with open hands.
Though the world feels bent and truth feels thin,
God is still above it all within.
Verse 2
No one knows what waits for days to come,
No one holds the wind or stops the sun.
Death won’t pause for wisdom, rank, or might,
War won’t spare us by our clever sight.
Though the wicked seem to laugh and thrive,
Long in days while faithful barely survive,
I’ve seen justice twisted in the street,
Wrong called right, and right taste defeat.
Chorus
There’s a time and way for all that’s done,
Even when the road feels overrun.
We don’t see the end from where we stand,
So we trust the Lord with open hands.
Though the world feels bent and truth feels thin,
God is still above it all within.
Verse 3
Still I know that joy belongs to those
Who fear the Lord wherever life goes.
Though the sinner seems to walk at ease,
Their shadow fades like restless seas.
Man cannot uncover all God’s plan,
Search all night, still not understand.
Even wise confess with humbled breath,
Some things stand beyond our depth.
Bridge
So I’ll eat, I’ll drink, receive the day,
Find my joy along the narrow way.
What God gives beneath the sun
Is enough till His will is done.
Final Chorus
There’s a time and way for all we face,
Held within His sovereign space.
What we don’t know, we still revere,
Faith walks on when sight is unclear.
Though His ways are high and often hidden,
God is good, His rule unbidden.
Outro
When answers fail and shadows remain…
I’ll trust the God I cannot explain.
