This chapter acknowledges God’s sovereignty over time. Every event in human life unfolds within seasons appointed by God—birth and death, joy and grief, building and tearing down. Humans live inside these seasons but do not control them.
God has placed eternity in the human heart, creating a longing for permanence and meaning, yet humans cannot fully grasp God’s work from beginning to end. The proper response is humility, gratitude, and trust—receiving joy as a gift rather than an entitlement.
Christ enters human time and redeems it. In Him, every season finds meaning, and eternity becomes accessible through relationship with God.
Ecclesiastes 3 — “A Time for Everything”
Song Lyrics
Verse 1
There’s a time to be born, a time to die,
A time to laugh, a time to cry.
A time to plant, a time to reap,
A time to wake, a time to sleep.
A time to tear, a time to mend,
A time to start, a time to end.
A time for silence, a time to speak,
A time for strength, a time for meek.
Chorus
Every moment in His hands,
Every season has its span.
We move like shadows through the years,
Held by grace, shaped by tears.
God makes all things right in time,
Even when the path feels blind.
Verse 2
A time for war, a time for peace,
A time for loss, a time release.
A time to search, a time to find,
A time to leave the past behind.
What do we gain from all we do?
The endless work we’re driven to?
Yet every breath and every day
Is held within His wise array.
Chorus
Every moment in His hands,
Every season has its span.
We move like shadows through the years,
Held by grace, shaped by tears.
God makes all things right in time,
Even when the path feels blind.
Verse 3
He set eternity in our hearts,
Yet we can’t see how it all starts.
We long to know the whole design,
But walk by faith, not by sightlines.
So I saw joy in honest toil,
Simple gifts, not restless soil.
To eat, to drink, to love each day,
Is God’s good gift along the way.
Bridge
What God has done will always stand,
No one can add or take His plan.
He does this so our hearts will see,
To fear the Lord reverently.
Final Chorus
Every moment in His hands,
Past and future now and then.
What has been and what will be,
Rests within eternity.
God makes all things right in time,
Even this restless heart of mine.
Outro
A time for everything…
And every time belongs to Him.
