Daniel 7 Teaching Notes / Biblical Summary

Daniel 7 marks a turning point in the book, shifting from historical narrative to prophetic vision. Daniel sees four beasts representing successive earthly kingdoms, each marked by power and violence. A final arrogant ruler arises, opposing God’s people for a limited time. The vision then shifts to heaven, where God — the Ancient of Days — judges the powers of the earth. Authority is given to one “like a Son of Man,” whose kingdom is everlasting. The chapter assures believers that human power is temporary, but God’s kingdom is eternal, and the saints will ultimately share in it.

Christ-Foreshadowing

The “Son of Man” coming with the clouds of heaven directly points to Christ, who receives authority, glory, and an everlasting kingdom from God. Jesus later identifies Himself with this title, declaring that His reign will never end and that all nations will serve Him.

Full Song Lyrics

Verse 1 — The Night Vision

In the first year the king still reigned,

A vision came while Daniel dreamed.

The winds of heaven stirred the sea,

And shapes arose in mystery.

Four great beasts from waters wide,

Each unlike the rest in form and stride.

A lion first with eagle’s wings,

Then stripped and stood like humbled kings.

Verse 2 — Beasts and Power

A bear arose on one side strong,

With ribs held fast between its jaws.

“Arise,” it heard, “devour much flesh,”

Its hunger fierce, its strength afresh.

A leopard swift with wings of four,

Four heads it bore, dominion sure.

Then came a beast beyond all fear,

With iron teeth — both strong and severe.

Chorus — Kingdoms Rise and Fall

Kingdoms rise and kingdoms fall,

Power fades beneath it all.

The earth may shake, the seas may roar,

But God still reigns forevermore.

Verse 3 — The Little Horn

Ten horns crowned the fourth beast’s head,

Another rose where three lay dead.

With eyes that watched and mouth that spoke,

Proud boasts against the Holy broke.

It made war upon the faithful ones,

For a season’s time its will was done.

Yet power stood on borrowed breath,

Its end decreed — its boast was death.

Chorus — Kingdoms Rise and Fall

Kingdoms rise and kingdoms fall,

Power fades beneath it all.

The earth may shake, the seas may roar,

But God still reigns forevermore.

Verse 4 — The Heavenly Court

Thrones were set, the court convened,

The Ancient of Days took His seat.

His robe was white, His hair like flame,

Fire flowed out before His name.

The books were opened, judgment near,

The boastful horn dissolved in fear.

The beast was slain, its body burned,

Its stolen glory never returned.

Bridge — The Son of Man

Then on the clouds of heaven came

One like a Son of Man proclaimed.

To Him were given rule and reign,

A kingdom time would not restrain.

All peoples served Him, near and far,

His dominion no decay could mar.

An everlasting throne was raised,

A kingdom sure through endless days.

Outro — Hope for the Saints

The saints will reign though trials remain,

Their kingdom promised, not in vain.

Though visions trouble heart and mind,

God’s end is sure — His truth defined.
