Christ-Foreshadowing (Acts Lens)

Acts 3 reveals Christ as:

  • The Servant glorified by God
• The Holy and Righteous One
• The Author (Prince) of Life
• The Prophet like Moses
• The Fulfillment of Abraham’s promise

The healing is not the climax —
The proclamation of the risen Christ is.

In the Name of Jesus”

(Verse 1)

Peter and John at the ninth hour,

Up to the temple for prayer and power,

At the gate called Beautiful laid

A man lame from birth each day.

Carried there to beg for alms,

Hands stretched out with empty palms,

Seeing them as they passed him by,

He asked again with pleading cry.

(Pre-Chorus)

Peter looked at him and said,

“Look at us — lift up your head.”

(Chorus)

Silver and gold have I none,

But what I have I give as one —

In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,

Rise and walk — be made whole.

Strength filled ankles, bones grew strong,

He leapt and praised the Lord along.

(Verse 2)

Peter took him by the hand,

Lifted him up as he would stand,

Immediately his feet were healed,

Power the risen Christ revealed.

Walking, leaping, praising God,

Into the temple where he’d longed,

All the people saw and knew,

The beggar they had passed right through.

(Pre-Chorus 2)

Wonder filled the portico,

Solomon’s Porch began to glow.

(Chorus)

Why do you stare as if by might

We healed this man before your sight?

It is the Name you crucified,

But God has raised — He is alive.

The Holy and Righteous One you denied,

The Author of Life who could not die.

(Verse 3)

You handed Him to Pilate’s will,

Chose Barabbas — chose to kill,

Yet what God spoke by prophets’ voice,

That Christ would suffer — not by choice.

And now by faith in Jesus’ Name,

This man stands whole before the same.

I know you acted unaware,

As did rulers standing there.

Repent therefore, turn again,

That times refreshing may begin,

That He may send the Christ appointed,

Jesus — heaven now has joined Him,

Until the time of all restored,

As spoken by the prophets of old.

(Bridge)

Moses said, “A Prophet will rise,

Like me — hear Him or perish likewise.”

From Samuel on and all who spoke,

These days were promised to your folk.

You are sons of covenant grace,

Through Abraham’s promised race,

God raised His Servant, sent Him first,

To bless you — turn from evil’s curse.

(Final Chorus — Strong)

Silver and gold cannot redeem,

But Jesus fulfills the ancient dream,

From temple gate to gathered crowd,

His saving Name proclaimed aloud.

The Prince of Life forever reigns,

Repent — be freed from guilt and chains.

(Outro)

A cripple walks.

A sermon sounds.

The risen Christ shakes holy ground.
