Acts 2 reveals Christ as:

  • The Ascended Lord who pours out the Spirit
• The Fulfillment of Joel and David’s prophecies
• The Risen One death could not hold
• The Exalted Messiah seated at God’s right hand

Pentecost is not about the Spirit replacing Christ —
It is Christ reigning and sending the Spirit to continue His mission.

Acts 2 The Day of Pentecost”

(Verse 1)

When Pentecost had fully come,

They gathered all together as one,

Suddenly a sound from heaven,

Like rushing wind that filled the room.

Tongues of fire appeared and stayed,

Resting on each who knelt and prayed,

They were filled with the Holy Ghost,

And spoke in languages unknown.

(Pre-Chorus)

Devout men from every land,

Heard the wonders firsthand.

(Chorus)

This is the promise spoken before,

The Spirit poured out on sons and daughters,

Jerusalem hears — the nations see,

The risen Christ in victory.

What you witness, what you hear,

Is the power of God now drawing near.

(Verse 2)

Parthians, Medes, Elamites,

Rome and Egypt, Arabs alike,

Each one heard in his own tongue,

The mighty works the Lord had done.

Some were amazed and searched for truth,

Some mocked and blamed it on new wine.

Then Peter stood with lifted voice,

“The hour is early — hear the sign!”

(Pre-Chorus 2)

“This is what Joel declared,

God’s Spirit poured on all who fear.”

(Chorus)

This is the promise spoken before,

The Spirit poured out on sons and daughters,

Young shall see and old shall dream,

Servants filled and prophesying.

Call on the Name and you’ll be saved,

Through Jesus Christ whom God has raised.

(Verse 3)

“Jesus of Nazareth — approved by God,

With mighty works among you shown,

Delivered up by God’s own plan,

Yet by lawless hands was crucified.

But God raised Him — death could not hold,

David spoke of this long ago,

The Holy One would not decay,

The risen Christ lives today.”

“This Jesus whom you crucified,

God has made both Lord and Christ!”

Cut to the heart, they cried aloud,

“Brothers, what must we do now?”

(Bridge)

“Repent and be baptized,” he said,

“In Jesus’ Name — your sins forgiven,

You will receive the Spirit’s gift,

The promise for you and your children.”

Three thousand souls were added that day,

Devoted to teaching, prayer, and praise,

Breaking bread from house to house,

One heart, one faith confessed aloud.

(Final Chorus — Strong)

This is the promise spoken before,

The Spirit poured out forevermore,

The Church is born — the Kingdom grows,

From Jerusalem the river flows.

Day by day the Lord will add,

Those being saved — redeemed and glad.

(Outro)

The Spirit has come.

The Church has begun.

The risen King reigns on.
