Hebrews 9 — Once for All Sacrifice

This chapter contrasts the earthly tabernacle with Christ’s heavenly ministry. Animal sacrifices were repeated and could not cleanse the conscience. Christ entered heaven itself with His own blood, securing eternal redemption. “Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” Christ appeared once to put away sin. As humans die once and face judgment, Christ was offered once and will return not to deal with sin again, but to bring salvation to those waiting for Him.

Hebrews 9 — “Once for All”

Hebrews 9

Verse 1

The first covenant had its place,

An earthly tent of sacred space.

Lampstand burning, table set,

Bread of Presence, incense met.

Behind the veil the Holy Place,

Where priest would serve with trembling pace.

And deeper still — the inner room,

Where mercy seat in shadow loomed.

Pre-Chorus

But only once a year he’d go,

With blood for sins the people owed.

Not without sacrifice in hand,

To stand before the Holy I AM.

Chorus

But Christ has come — High Priest above,

Not through shadow, but through love.

Not with blood of goats or calves,

But with His own — once for all He passed.

Into heaven’s holy side,

Eternal redemption now applied.

Verse 2

The outer tent stood day by day,

A symbol pointing to the way.

Washings, rituals, fleshly law —

Unable to cleanse the inner flaw.

But when Messiah entered in,

He purified the heart from sin.

Through the Spirit offered whole,

His blood cleansed conscience, freed the soul.

Verse 3

Where there is death, a will takes place,

Inheritance secured by grace.

The covenant sealed in blood was shown —

Even Moses sprinkled throne and stone.

Without the shedding, none forgiven,

Blood marked the path from earth to heaven.

Yet earthly copies needed more —

The heavenly required a greater score.

Bridge

Not to suffer time again,

Not to repeat what goats could not mend.

He appeared once at the end of days

To put away sin by His own self raised.

As man is destined once to die,

Then judgment stands before his eye —

So Christ was offered once to bear

The sins of many in despair.

Final Chorus

And He will come, not bearing sin,

But bringing salvation in full within.

Once for all the price was paid —

No second cross, no debt delayed.

The veil is passed, the work complete —

Our High Priest stands in mercy’s seat.
