Peter 4 — Living for God’s Will

Believers are called to arm themselves with Christ’s mindset. Suffering marks a break from former sinful patterns. They no longer live for human passions but for God’s will.

The end of all things is near — therefore believers must be self-controlled, prayerful, loving deeply, and hospitable. Each uses spiritual gifts to serve as stewards of God’s grace.

Fiery trials are not strange. They participate in Christ’s sufferings and anticipate future glory. Judgment begins with God’s household — refining His people first.

Christ Foreshadowing Anchor

Christ suffered in the flesh and conquered sin’s dominion.
He is the pattern of enduring trial with trust.
Glory follows suffering — just as it did for Him.

1 Peter 4 — “Through the Fire”

1 Peter 4

Verse 1

Since Christ has suffered in the flesh,

Arm your mind with purpose fresh.

Who has suffered breaks with sin,

No longer ruled by what was within.

Time enough for former ways —

Passions, idols, reckless days.

They are shocked you do not run

Back into what they have done.

Chorus

Live not for the will of man,

But for the will of God’s great plan.

For the end of all is near —

Stand awake, be strong, be clear.

Verse 2

They will answer for their choice

To Him who judges every voice.

The gospel even reached the dead —

That though judged in flesh, in spirit led.

So be self-controlled and pray,

Keep love fervent every day.

Love will cover many sins,

Grace begins where mercy wins.

Pre-Chorus

Open homes and open hands,

Steward well what God commands.

Verse 3

Each one gifted by His grace,

Serve the body in your place.

Speak as one who speaks God’s Word,

Serve as strength by Him conferred.

So in all things God be praised

Through the Son in glory raised.

Bridge — The Fire

Do not think it strange, the flame,

As though surprise has come by name.

Rejoice that you in some small part

Share the sufferings of His heart.

If insult comes in Jesus’ name,

The Spirit rests upon that flame.

But let no sin your suffering claim —

Let Christ alone define your pain.

Final Chorus

Judgment starts within His house,

Refining first His chosen spouse.

If righteous scarcely stand secure,

What of hearts that won’t endure?

Entrust your soul to faithful hands,

Keep doing good as trial stands.

Through the fire, through the strain —

Glory waits beyond the pain.
