Ezekiel 10 — Teaching Notes / Biblical Summary

Ezekiel sees the glory of the Lord again, now in motion. The cherubim and wheels described in chapter 1 reappear, emphasizing that God’s throne is living and mobile. A man clothed in linen is commanded to scatter burning coals over Jerusalem, symbolizing coming judgment.

The most significant moment is the movement of God’s glory from above the cherubim to the threshold of the temple. This pause reveals God’s reluctance to depart and His patience before judgment. God is not defeated or removed by exile — He leaves because His holiness cannot dwell with persistent sin.

Christ-Foreshadowing

The departure of God’s glory prepares for the promise of its return. This foreshadows Christ, in whom the fullness of God’s presence would dwell among humanity once again, restoring what was lost.

Ezekiel 10

“The Glory Moves”

Verse 1

Above the cherubim I looked and saw

A throne like sapphire, radiant with awe.

Fire beneath His feet burned bright,

Judgment stirring in holy light.

Pre-Chorus

He spoke to the one in linen white,

“Go between the wheels of fire and light.

Fill your hands with coals that burn,

Scatter them — the city’s turn.”

Chorus

The glory moved, the sound was thunder,

Wings like waters crashing under.

Wheels alive with watching eyes,

Rising earthward, touching skies.

This is the glory — dreadful, pure,

Holy presence, rich and sure.

Verse 2

Each cherub bore a face revealed,

Man and lion, ox and field.

Eagle lifted, wings outspread,

The same living ones I saw ahead.

Pre-Chorus 2

When the cherubim rose, the wheels rose too,

For the Spirit moved them all as one — true.

They did not turn, they did not stray,

Where the glory went, they made the way.

Chorus

The glory moved, the sound was thunder,

Wings like waters crashing under.

Wheels alive with watching eyes,

Rising earthward, touching skies.

This is the glory — dreadful, pure,

Holy presence, rich and sure.

Bridge

The glory rose from the temple floor,

Paused at the threshold — still once more.

Mercy lingered, judgment near,

He did not rush — He made it clear.

Outro / Anchor Line

The glory moved — not gone, not weak,

Still sovereign though the temple breaks.

God departs before the fall,

So all may know He saw it all
