When Lot is captured during a regional war, Abram courageously leads a small band of trained men to rescue him. Upon victory, Abram meets Melchizedek, king of Salem and priest of God Most High, who blesses him with bread and wine. Abram gives him a tenth of everything, honoring God as the source of triumph. He refuses reward from the king of Sodom, showing integrity and faith. This chapter highlights Abram’s courage, righteousness, and devotion, and it introduces Melchizedek as a foreshadowing of Christ—the eternal priest and king who blesses those who live by faith.
