David sends envoys to comfort Hanun king of Ammon, but the new king humiliates them, assuming they are spies. Ammon hires Aramean forces, provoking war. David sends Joab and Abishai, who trust the Lord and defeat the combined armies. Later, David personally leads Israel to further victory over the Arameans.
Christ-Foreshadowing: David extending kindness but being rejected reflects Christ, who offers peace to humanity yet is often misunderstood and opposed.
