Elisha warns the Shunammite woman of an approaching famine, and when she returns seven years later, God orchestrates perfect timing so her land and its profits are restored. Elisha travels to Damascus and foretells that Hazael will become king and bring severe judgment on Israel, which moves Elisha to tears. Meanwhile, Judah’s kings Jehoram and Ahaziah walk in Ahab’s wicked ways, yet God preserves David’s line for His promise’s sake. Christ-Foreshadowing: God’s preservation of David’s line points directly to Christ, the faithful King. Elisha’s compassion and restoration reflect Christ’s heart for restoration.
