Naaman, a respected Syrian commander with leprosy, seeks healing from Elisha. Expecting dramatic ritual, he is offended when told to wash in the Jordan seven times. Persuaded by his servants, he obeys and is healed. Grateful, he acknowledges Israel’s God as the only true God. Gehazi, Elisha’s servant, greedily lies to obtain gifts from Naaman and is struck with leprosy. The chapter contrasts humility and pride, obedience and greed.
Christ-Foreshadowing: Naaman’s cleansing through simple faith foreshadows Christ’s power to cleanse sinners who obey His call with a humble heart.
