Josiah leads the most thorough reform in Judah’s history. He destroys idols, removes pagan priests, defiles altars, tears down shrines from Dan to Beersheba, and reinstitutes the Passover with unmatched devotion. Yet despite his faithfulness, God’s anger remains because of the sins of Manasseh. After Josiah’s death in battle, Judah quickly regresses, and the Babylonian threat grows.
Christ-Foreshadowing: Josiah’s sweeping reforms point to Christ, the true reformer who not only destroys idols but transforms hearts—bringing lasting spiritual renewal.
