Ahaz becomes one of Judah’s most wicked kings. He builds idols, sacrifices his own children, and shuts the temple doors. God allows Judah to be defeated by Aram and Israel, but in compassion, the prophet Oded persuades Israel to release their Judean captives. Ahaz, however, grows worse, turning to pagan gods even in distress. His reign plunges Judah into deep spiritual darkness.
Christ-Foreshadowing: Ahaz’s corruption highlights the need for Christ—the true Light who comes to rescue people from spiritual darkness.
