Late in his reign, Asa relies on the king of Aram rather than God to deliver him from Israel. God rebukes him through Hanani the seer, reminding him of earlier victories won through faith. Asa becomes angry, persecutes the prophet, and oppresses some of his people. He later suffers a severe disease but does not seek the Lord. His life warns of drifting from trust.
Christ-Foreshadowing: Asa’s decline highlights humanity’s need for Christ — the perfectly faithful King who never stops relying on the Father.
