Abijah becomes king and faces Jeroboam’s much larger army. Abijah stands on Mount Zemaraim and proclaims that Judah remains faithful to the temple, the priesthood, and God’s covenant with David—while Israel has rejected God’s ways. Despite Jeroboam’s ambush, Judah cries out to God, and the Lord defeats Israel, granting Judah a decisive victory.
Christ-Foreshadowing: Judah’s victory through calling on God foreshadows Christ, who brings triumph not through human strength but through reliance on God.
