Rehoboam abandons the Lord, and God allows Shishak king of Egypt to invade Judah. Jerusalem’s treasures are taken, and Rehoboam becomes subject to Egypt. When Rehoboam humbles himself, God grants partial mercy but not full deliverance, teaching that disobedience leads to loss.
Christ-Foreshadowing: Rehoboam’s partial repentance contrasts with Christ, who leads His people in perfect obedience and restores what sin has taken.
